Carols and Mince Pies 2023

What a wonderful afternoon we had! Thank you all so much for coming. A special well done to those that sang solos: Jo, Lori, Serena & Georgia, and Alfred.

Carols and Mince Pies 2022

We had a lovely afternoon of singing carols (despite internet disruption!) - thank you to all that came.

Summer Concert 2022

Congratulations to everyone who took part in our first Summer Concert in 3 years!! It was truly emotional to hear your voices in a live setting once more, and I couldn't have been prouder.

29 April 2021

Exciting news! The current plan is to begin face to face lessons from Wednesday 9 June. The timetable will need some readjustment in order to keep everyone safe, so I will confirm separately with everyone the start of their lessons.

9 January 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Farnborough Vocal School is now back from the Christmas break. I look forward to welcoming you all back. Entry will be via the front door during these darker winter months. There will still be a 5 minute gap between each lesson to make sure no one meets at the door, plus the requirement for a negative Lateral Flow Test before you come.

9 September 2020

The Autumn Term has officially ended its first week and I am happy to have had most students return to their lessons. We are remaining online until the October half term, during which I will reassess the situation and advise everyone accordingly. Thank you all for being so patient and diligent. Your hard work and commitment to your singing makes my heart sing!!

23 July 2020

It is now officially the end of term. I would like to say a huge thank you to all my students for having the courage to continue lessons online. We all had a sharp learning curve in technological wizardry, but we have managed it and come out the other side relatively unscathed! We even managed our annual summer concert, which involved lots of videos being shot. Lessons are continuing over the summer for those that wish to carry on and regular lessons will resume in September. The guidelines are still unclear and so lessons will begin online until we get the go ahead that it is safe to sing indoors. I wish you all a safe and happy summer.

Summer Concert 2020

I am pleased to announce that we have had our annual Summer Concert in a virtual capacity! Students prepared their videos for a "group" piece, as well as solos and duets, and we had a Zoom watch party on Sunday 19th July. The videos are available to watch on the "Summer Concert 2020" playlist on my YouTube channel. Please let me know if you would like the link to this as they are all currently unlisted.

COVID-19 UPDATE: 2nd April 2020

All lessons are now successfully being taught online. Please contact Anthea if you have not yet set up your lessons.

COVID-19 UPDATE: 19th March 2020

Dear students and parents,

In light of the developing situation in the UK I have looked into the practicality of online lessons and have recently taught a student through a video call. This means that for anyone with concerns about coming to the house, we can immediately set up remote lessons via video calls.

I am going to give you all the necessary information below to set yourself up for remote singing lessons, but I urge you to get in touch once that is done so that we can do a test call and arrange a suitable time for your lesson.

INSTRUCTIONS:

We have tested a variety of devices to call from and, depending on your device, you can use the following free applications to call me -

For all Apple devices:

FaceTime.

Zoom Cloud Meeting (includes the ability to record your lesson)

For Android or other phones:

Skype

Whatsapp

For home computers:

Zoom desktop client

Skype

It is important to note that you will need a separate device (mobile phone, tablet, CD player) to play the accompaniment files, which I will email to you before the lesson.

IMPORTANT UPDATE - 13th March 2020

Given the current climate, I would like to clarify my singing lesson status from Monday 16th March:

Unless circumstances dictate otherwise, lessons will continue until the end of term - Thursday 2 April

* All students will be asked to wash their hands upon entry to the premises

* Please allow me to open and close all the doors to avoid potential contact transfer

* There will be no jug of water offered to students so please bring your own bottles

* The cancellation policy still applies that lessons cancelled at the last minute must be paid for

I hope this offers some peace of mind. However, I do understand that many people have concerns about the COVID-19 spread and I am therefore offering singing lessons via Skype or FaceTime, should you wish to do this instead. I can send digital music files to you so that you can play the accompaniment at your end, thus getting over the slight time delay of video calling! I would require a bank transfer payment ahead of the lesson.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

6th January 2020 - HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all. Lessons have resumed from today and we welcome 2 new students to the Vocal School.

8th December 2019 - We had a wonderful Carols & Mince Pies get together, singing carols together and having a much needed social catch up! Some students also sang solos for us, which was very entertaining. Congratulations everyone and I hope you have a peaceful Christmas break.

22 October 2019 - Having reviewed our annual concerts, I have made the decision to have one annual Summer Showcase concert in July. At Christmas, we will have a Carols & Mince Pies get together at The Crescent, for students and past students. This year's first Christmas get together will be Sunday 8th December at 3pm.
